About Nagarkurnool, which was written by me in wikipedia...

Nagarkurnool is a town in Mahbubnagar district, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is the business and education centre for the surrounding villages and towns. Nagarkurnool is located in between 16.48 degrees northern longitude and 78.32 eastern latitude,this town is situated approximately 458.0 m above sea level. Nagarkurnool falls under semi-arid tropical regions.

Once it was the district headquarters, now it is a MP constituency and Revenue division.

Nagarkurnool was named after the Kings "Nagana" and "Kandana", the brothers who ruled the present Nagarkurnool and surrounding area. The village Naganool (which was named after "Nagana") is still existing, approximately 1 km south east of Nagarkurnool.

Between 100–200 years ago, Nagarkurnool was a main junction for transport. Farmers traveling this area would buy and apply kandena to their carts. Kandena is a greasy material applied to cart wheels to run smoothly. The name Kandanool (Ooru), which sells Kandena, eventually became Kurnool (Chinna Kurnool) and then Nagarkurnool.

Population is approximately 45,000, which includes surrounding hamlets Uyyalawada, Naganool, Endabetla and Sripur. Nagar Kurnool is popularly abbreviated as NKL or NGKL.

Nagarkurnool is a major grampanchayat. It is the second fully computerised panchayat office in Andhra Pradesh. Elections are held every 4 years to elect the Sarpanch.

The present Member of Legislative assembly of Nagarkurnool is Dr. Janardhan Reddy Nagam.

As of 2001 India census[1], Nagarkurnool had a population of 26,176. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%, as the people from many surrounding villages continuously magrating to Nagarkurnool for education and job opportunities the population is increasing day by day. Nagarkurnool has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 79%, and female literacy is 62%. In Nagarkurnool, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
